Shen Rutao is a disciple of Ma Pinyi, who has already become highly proficient in traditional zisha techniques despite being in his early twenties. He owes his success to his natural talent and his unwavering dedication to the art of zisha. At a young age, Shen Rutao has already attained a deep understanding of the craft and honed his skills under the tutelage of Ma Pinyi. With such a promising start, he is sure to become a true creator in the future. Let us look forward to witnessing his growth together.
Shao Sheng He was a well-known Zisha teapot maker during the Kangxi to Qianlong years of the Qing Dynasty in Yixing. His creations were of the highest quality, and there were hardly any duplicates. Shenghe was a notable artist who successfully transitioned from making large zini pots to small Zhuni pots, which required different techniques due to the clay’s unique nature. Another distinctive feature of Shenghe’s work is that most of his pieces were custom-made, which adds to their exclusivity.
The shape of this pot is strong yet soft, with clean and tidy lines and a straight and neat knob. The fact that the artist was able to achieve such crisp lines using low-mesh clay is a testament to their skill and patience. The soft and smooth lines of the Sanwanliu spout merge and collide with the strong lines of the pot's body, which further highlights the noble wisdom of life that combines strength and softness.
All of the Mo Gu works from One Space have been recreated or refined by Ma Pinyi with a modern take in mind and his view of aesthetics. This not only enhances their appearance but also makes them more practical to use; they are guaranteed a smooth and strong pouring, which aligns with the tea brewing habits of modern people. This piece not only possesses artistic value but is also very practical, comfortable to use, and suitable to hold. The balance between the handle and spout is perfect, and a lot of thought and time has been devoted to making the handle. The handle has a round and plump appearance, but it has been flattened on the inside and modified with obtuse angles, making it very convenient and comfortable to use. It takes time to perfect such details, yet in today’s fast-paced market, people often overlook them in favor of fast production and high quantities. However, at One Space, we remain committed to creating pots using only high-quality clay, excellent craftsmanship, practicality, artistic appreciation, and attention to detail. These are our specialties, and we take pride in our original intentions and the care we put into making each pot.
This pot has many other strong points that should be discovered and utilized by the user. That is the beauty of a good Zisha pot. As time passes, you will increasingly appreciate it and understand it better. This is the best way to communicate with artists and discover their good intentions and thoughts through appreciation.
