This is a replica of “Da Bin Xu Bian,” a masterpiece created by grand master Shi Dabin in Ming Dynasty.

Shi Da Bin 时大彬 (1573-1648)

The essence of Dabin’s teapot is its simplicity, yet it exudes a magnificent and grandeur aura. To be considered a well-crafted Xu Bian, the body should be flat enough to maintain its shape without collapsing and flat enough to hold its shape but not too rigid. This will test the artist’s crafting skill and understanding of shapes, lines, and charms. It is easy to imitate but challenging to capture the soul.

Under the supervision of Ma Pinyi, this pot flawlessly interprets Master Shi Dabin’s unique aesthetic. The pot is entirely handmade, which increases the production difficulty, making the final product even more valuable. This high-quality Golden Duanni that is used to make the pot is sourced from Huang Long Shan and has a fascinating texture that is grainy but smooth like jade.

Shen Ru Tao is the apprentice of Master Ma Pinyi. He has been taught by Master Ma Pinyi and has a great talent for understanding and applying traditional techniques. Therefore, although he is young, only in his early 20s, his techniques are so sophisticated, which is a gift. A great artist with a promising future.
